What's up with the weather
here? All across northern Japan, they're getting record
snowfall...so bad, in fact, that 83 people have lost their lives.
Here in Sasebo, we received less than an inch of snow that promptly
melted off by the next afternoon - it usually doesn't snow here
until February.
We've had two big hail storms,
one of which I got some pictures of. There was so much hail
that it actually looked like a thin blanket of snow on the ground.
Unfortunately, it wreaked havoc with the Xmas lights we had just
finished stringing. It totally killed some of them and
partially paralyzed others. I performed some minor surgery to
get some of them working again, but others were beyond hope.
But back to the weather.
The temperatures have been bouncing up and down, from below freezing
up to the high 50's. And just when we'd planned to go to a ski
resort, the temperature shoots up and we get tons of rain instead of
snow. It's just not right.
The other problem is that the
freaky temperatures have, of course, gotten everyone sick. But
then again, I can't remember the last time that someone in the house
wasn't sick...I think that we just keep passing it back and forth to
each other. Hina ran a fever from Xmas to New Years...Luna,
who has been sick for the last week, broke out with a fever this
weekend...and now I'm catching the bug again.
Maybe we'll have better luck
next year...on all accounts.
