OK, I've never really been big
on New Year's resolutions, as they've always turned out to be broken
promises I make to myself to do one thing or another. I know
that I'm not alone in this, as it seems to be a trend among nearly
everyone I know. I anticipate that this year may be
different, but only time will tell.
To begin with, I want to get
serious about getting myself back in shape. But I won't be
buying any expensive exercise equipment for it to soon collect dust
in the corner of the bedroom. And no health club memberships,
because I hate working out in musty, sweat-smelly gyms. I'm
simply going to get out and start playing hockey again, after a
two-year layoff. Of course, I'm in Sasebo, so there are no
hockey teams or any other organized action here, but I can go out to
work on my skating skills.
In 2006, I will focus on
improving my photography, both by studying and experimenting with
various photographic techniques and by actually getting out and
taking more photos. I originally planned to take a wide
variety of photos depicting life in Japan to publish on this
website, but I have gone out to shoot far less than intended.
Finally, I intend to provide
more frequent blog and photo updates to the website. I have
been distracted by far too many issues in the past few months, and
as a result my postings have suffered. I will do something
about that in the new year by posting updates at least once a week,
and more frequently when possible.
So, here I am, on
January 1st, taking the first step toward a happy and more focused
new year. I hope that each of you are doing the same!
And much love, hope and
blessings from afar to all of my family and friends back home.
