This is Kencho-Ji, the first of Kamakura's five temples.  The oldest Zen training monastery in Japan, it was constructed in the year 1253.

Due to a series of fires during the 14th and 15th centuries, only 10 of the original 49 temples at the site remain, but they are well-maintained to this day, including the original temple bell - cast in 1255 - and juniper trees that were imported from China more than 700 years ago.
