This was not one of the
best trips I've taken - the weather was lousy nearly the entire time
because the Okinawan rainy season began as I arrived on the island.
It was clear and sunny for only one day and rained the rest of the
time. I took most of these pictures on that one day.
Fortunately, I was able to
spend a some time with some old friends down there. By "old" I
mean that we've been friends for many years now, although I guess
you could say that we're all aging as well - not so much as a fine
bottle of wine in the cellar would, but more like an open can of
beer in the fridge. But no matter how much time goes by,
nobody seems to change very much.
I was also able to spend a
bunch of time with my kids Emily and Yukito, who are growing up too
quickly. Since Emily started junior high school two months ago
she's made volleyball first team and has already begun playing their
fall season. Yukito is now playing baseball and softball -
primarily at shortstop, but also at first base, outfield and catcher
on occasion. Could it be that one of my kids will grow up to
be a professional athlete as their father was? Hahahahahaha -
professional couch potato, maybe.
And on that note...
